PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a driver to grasp a traffic jam on a route and its condition. SOLUTION: A map corresponding to the position of an automobile and a route NRD to a destination are depicted on a display screen SCR, and whether or not a congested road link exists on the route is determined according to road traffic information received from the outside. If the link exists, either (1) a scale whereby the position of the automobile and the terminal point of a traffic jam on the route can be displayed on one screen is determined and the map, the route and the congested road link are displayed on one screen in that scale or (2) the automobile is supposed to travel at a predetermined speed on the route and then the map, the route, and the congested road link are scrolled on the display screen. |
