PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid excessive currents, when a power source is switched on and reduce harmonic distortion with a high power factor. SOLUTION: A smoothing capacitor is connected to an input terminal of a high-frequency inverter, and the first resonance circuit is connected between an AC rectifying means and the smoothing capacitor, and one terminal of the second resonance circuit 6 to determine a starting power and a lamp current value, based on a high-frequency output of the high-frequency inverter 5 is connected to an output terminal of the high-frequency inverter. Then, the other terminal is connected between an output terminal of the rectifying means 2 and the first resonance circuit 4, the first resonance circuit is resonated with the high-frequency output of the high-frequency inverter, and a terminal voltage is made higher than an instantaneous value of an output voltage of the rectifying means. Since the terminal voltage of the first resonance circuit and an output voltage of the rectifying means are summed vectorially and applied to the smoothing capacitor, throughout all the phases of the output voltage of the rectifying means, an electric current flows intermittently into the smoothing capacitor from the rectifying means, in accordance with the high-frequency cycle. |
