PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new metallocene complex useful as one component of a catalyst for (co)polymerizing a high-molecular weight olefin (co)polymer. SOLUTION: This metallocene complex of a metal M selected from Ti, Zr and Hf and contains an anionic group A, containing anη<5> -cyclopentadienyl ring coordinated with the metal M and substituted with the formula Ph*-(CR<6> R<7> )n [R<6> and R<7> are each H, a halogen or a 1-4C alkyl; (n) is 0 or 1; Ph* is a 6-14C group, etc., bound to CR<6> R<7> or A and having an aromatic ring substituted with an electron attractive group different from C1] in the metallocence complex, e.g. bis[η<5> -(4-fluorobenzyl)cyclopentadienyl]zirconium dichloride. The metallocene complex can be prepared by using a salt of the metal M and a cyclopentadienyl ligand having a desired structure as raw materials and carrying out a well-known method utilizing an organometallic chemistry. Thereby, a high-molecular weight polyolefin can be produced.
