A quilt (1) comprises a first cover panel (2), a second cover panel (3), a stratum panel (4), and a loose filling (5). The first cover panel and the stratum panel are superimposed and joined along their perimeters in order to form a first enclosure (7), which contains a part of the filling. The second cover panel is superimposed onto the stratum panel in a position opposite said first cover panel and joined with said stratum panel along the respective perimeters in order to form a second enclosure (8), which contains another part of the filling. In this quilt the stratum panel lifts a part of the filling by creating zones adjacent both sides, where the filling cannot pack densely. The invention also provides a method of manufacturing a quilt.
