In a camera having a continuously movable common setting member for both shutter speed and diaphragm aperture, means are provided for transmitting from said setting member to the diaphragm an adjustment resulting in continuous change of aperture setting at constant shutter speed settings and abrupt change of aperture setting on change of shutter speed setting, so that a substantially continuous change of light value setting is obtained from continuous movement of said setting member. In the form shown, a setting member 13 which is rotatable either by a plunger 2 or by a ring on the camera casing, has two cams 16, 19 which are engaged by a stop 17 of a shutter speed setting device and a stop 26 of an angle lever 22 respectively, said lever being movably connected at one end by a stop 23 and slot 24 to the shutter housing 25 and at the other by slot 36 and pin 35 to a diaphragm control ring 29. The cams are shaped so that over sections 39 of cam 16 the shutter speed does not change but the diaphragm aperture is decreased by sections 20 of cam 19. When the shutter speed is changed over sections 40 of cam 16 the diaphragm aperture is abruptly increased over sections 21 of cam 19 by a corresponding amount. When the pin 17 reaches the end of the stepped section of cam 16 the diaphragm aperture may be controlled directly by a stop 37 on the setting member engaging a stop 38 on the diaphragm control member 29, or, if these stops are not provided, part 46 of the cam surface 19 may be shaped so that the diaphragm aperture is varied by pin 26 moving over this part.
