WASTE PROCESSING METHOD AND APPARATUS

Treating toxic waste by vitrification, comprises: (a) providing waste in the form of relatively small pieces; (b) bringing a high intensity light source (12) to bear on the waste and optional vitrification material, the light source having sufficient power to cause melting and subsequent vitrification of the waste; and (c) cooling and storing the vitrified material. Also claimed is an appts. for treating toxic waste.
