Catalysts used in epoxidation or hydroxylation of water-insol. olefinic cpds. with H2O2, are recovered by introducing the catalyst-contg. distn. residue into an inert matl. in turbulent motion and burning the org. components in distn. residue with O2-(contg. gases), pref. air. The catalyst cpd. deposited on the inert turbulent material, together with the catalyst cpd. collected in a solids separator connected behind reactor, are leached out with water and the soln. obtd. is re-used for epoxidation or hydroxylation. The process is esp. used for recovery of transition metal catalyst, partic. W cpds., e.g. used in epoxidation or hydroxylation of allyl alcohol with H2O2. Catalyst can be recovered quantitatively and re-used without loss of activity. The process causes no pollution.
|
