This system recovers energy radiated from electrodeless light sources, especially rotating, cooled spherical lamps containing small quantities of argon and sulphur or selenium. These are subjected to the electromagnetic fields of micrometric waves, focused by a wire cage. Glaring, cold and resembling sunlight spectrally, the light enters a lengthy light tube with internal, partially-reflective layer. This directs the light through apertures onto the surface to be illuminated. The light tube is surrounded by a second coaxial tube. Plastic screens occupy the interspace. In this new development, on their curved surfaces (10) a photovoltaic layer (12) converts transmitted light into direct current. Alternatively, the light tube (1) is at least partially surrounded by a casing (14) substituting for the screens. This is similarly coated, and has light outlet apertures. |
