A complete smoking assembly (10, 210) including a housing (12, 212) that defines a first chamber (14, 214) for storing smoking material and an aperture (28, 228), a top cover (30, 230) associated with the housing, and a lighter (46, 246) contained substantially within the housing (12, 212) for emitting through the aperture (28, 228) a flame for igniting outside of the housing (12, 212) a portion of the smoking material removed from the housing (12, 212). The aperture (28, 228) is defined along a side of the housing (12, 212). The assembly (10, 210) includes a smoking pipe (44, 244) for removing the portion of the smoking material from the first chamber (14, 214), and the housing (12, 212) defines an elongated channel (24, 224) for removably receiving the smoking pipe (44, 244). The top cover (30, 230) is slidingly engaged with the housing (12, 212) and is adapted to open and close the first chamber (14, 214) and open and close the channel (24, 224). The lighter (46, 246) is configured to be substantially received within the housing (12, 212) in a neat and compact manner.
