<p>This invention relates to the treatment of atherosclerosis via raising the level of HDL cholesterol by administration of a compound of formula (I) wherein : R?1, R2, and R3¿ are independently hydrogen, C¿1?-C6 alkyl or -(CH2)0-6Ph where Ph is phenyl is optionally substituted by halogen, cyano, nitro, C1-C6 alkyl, C1-C6 alkoxy, trifluoromethyl, C1-C6 alkoxycarbonyl, -CO2H or OH; R?4¿ is hydrogen or C¿1?-C6 alkyl; R?5¿ is hydrogen, C¿1?-C6 alkyl, C3-C8 cycloalkyl, or -(CH2)0-6Ar?1¿ where Ar1 is phenyl, naphthyl, furanyl, pyridinyl or thienyl and Ar1 can be optionally substituted by halogen, cyano, nitro, C¿1?-C6 alkyl, phenyl, C1-C6 alkoxy, phenoxy, trifluoromethyl, C1-C6 alkoxycarbonyl, -CO2H or OH; and Ar is phenyl, naphthyl, furanyl, pyridinyl or thienyl or Ar is optionally substituted by halogen, cyano, nitro, C1-C6 alkyl, phenyl, C1-C6 alkoxy, phenoxy, trifluoromethyl, C1-C6 alkoxycarbonyl, -CO2H or OH.</p> |
