A resilient pedestrian and traffic-supporting surface includes a plurality of elements which are truncated right pyramids or cones and which have a height of 2 mm. The angle of bevel -a - is between 42 degrees and 50 degrees from the vertical. The diameter of the base is between 2 and 3 cms. and each element is preferably located 2 mm. from the next in orderly rows. The underside of the surface preferably has keying means such as parallel undercut ribs or inverted mushroom-shaped projections. The resilient material may be any syntehtic or natural elastomer.
