<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make commonly usable the coordinate input action and the open/ close actions of a switch mechanism making skillfully use of both revolving and pressing operations which are carried out at the same position, by controlling the output of an encoder via a switch mechanism and following a depressing action. SOLUTION: When a switch mechanism 6 is operated, s track ball 2 is vertically depressed by a slightly strong force and a pair of friction rollers 53 touching with each other one a spherical surface are pressed. Then, a rotary shaft 51 moves and the relative positions are changed among the shaft 51, a projector 56 and a photodetector 57 respectively. Thus, the light projected by the projector 56 is cut and the operation of the photodetector 57 is prevented. As a result, the detecting function is lost for the coordinate positions of a pair of encoders 5x and 5y and accordingly the movement of the ball 2 is not detected. When the pressure of the ball 2 is released, the encoders 5x and 5y are reset in their standard states. Then, the ball 2 is lightly touched by a finger and revolved to output the pulse signals via both encoders 5x and 5y in response to the component value that are decided in the (x) and (y) directions.</p> |
