Polyester based composition contains, as its principal component, a (co)polyester resin comprising recurring units of formula (I) -C(O)-R-C(O)-R1-O-- (I) R = aliphatic, aromatic, alkylaryl, arylalkyl; R1 = hydrocarbon or arylalkyl containing at least one beta -dicarbonyl compound with formula e.g. (II) - (IV) R2-C(O)-CH2-C(O)-R3 (II) R7--O-C(O)-H2C-C(O)-R2m (III) R4(CO)(CO)>CH2 (IV) (IV) R2, R3 = alkyl, aryl, arylalkyl or alkylaryl, optionally containing heteroatoms; or cycloaliphatic, with optional unsaturations; or radical of formula O-R5 in which R5 = alkyl, arylalkyl or polyether; or a radical of type R2-C(O)-CH2-C(O)-R6-, R1-C(O)-CH2-C(O)-R6-, or R2-C(O)-CH2-C(O)-O-R6-O, in which R6 = aliphatic or aromatic; R4 = polyalkylene radical with unsaturations or substituents containing at least two alkylene radicals e.g. a radical of formula O-R8-O in which R8 is aliphatic; R7 = alkyl or alkaryl; and m = 1-6. Also claimed are method for preparation of the composition; use of the composition in manufacture of hollow-bodied articles e.g. bottles; and a concentrated composition based on 5-95 wt.% polymeric resin with at least 5 wt.% beta -carbonyl compound which is used to lower acetaldehyde content in polyester. |
