PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce insertion loss by simplifying the manufacturing method for a compound substrate type circulator and an isolator. SOLUTION: These circulator and isolator are provided with a compound substrate in which a cylindrical ferrite 2 is embedded in a hole part of a glass ceramic substrate 1, a circular conductor 3 formed on the top surface of the ferrite 2, and three microstrip lines (MSL) 4 led out from the circular conductor, and the three MSLs 4 cross one another at equiangular intervals of 120 deg.. Taking a diameter of the circular conductor 3 as ϕ(c) and a diameter of the cylindrical ferrite 2 as ϕ(fe), a relation ϕ(fe)-ϕ(c)>=0.02 mm is established. Further, taking the total length of the MSL 4 as L(fe+GC) and the length of a part positioned above the cylindrical ferrite 2 out of the MSL 4 as L(fe), then a relation L(fe+ GC)>=2L(fe) is established. |
