The workpiece support (16) has circular component rotatable around an axis (20) and with one axial end face having workpiece holders (30-36) at a distance away from the rotational axis. The support is rotatable around the axis in a phased manner. The coating unit (14) is located above the preferably horizontally orientated rotational axis. Each workpiece holder is rotatable around its own axis and rotatable together with the workpiece.
