The energy sparing discharge lamp, including an inner bulb and an outer bulb. An evacuated intermediate space with a predetermined size is provided between the two bulbs. A gap control material (6) with a thickness smaller than the predetermined size, is provided in the intermediate space between the inner bulb (2) and the outer bulb (5). The gap control material is provided in a non-illuminating section, in the intermediate space of the energy saving discharge lamp (1).
