1,007,865. Parametrically excited resonators. SPERRY RAND CORPORATION. Jan. 4, 1962 [July 10, 1961], No. 21533/62. Heading H3B. A parametrically-excited resonator comprises a thin film 10 of 81% nickel and 19% iron, a pump winding 14 fed by a pumping source 18 and an output winding 16 turned by a capacitor 20. The easy axis 12 of the film is shown parallel to the axis of the pump winding 14 but may be at an angle thereto. The magnetization victor of film 10 may be reversed by reversing the magnetization of a biasing film 34 of 80-95% cobalt, 20 to 5% iron controlled by a winding 38 and a current source 40. The coercivity of the film 34 is higher than the coercivity of the film 10 and is high enough to prevent reversal by pumping of the magnetization of either film 34 or film 10. Pumping oscillates the vector of film 10. With the film 10 magnetized in one direction the oscillations may be set by a generator 26 and a switch 28 in rotation phase of #1 (0‹) and #3 (180‹). With the magnetization reversed, the oscillation may be set on phase #2 (90‹) and #4 (270‹). Specifications 976,102 and 982,987 are referred to. |
