PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize waste amounts such as organic residues such as food garbage and paper sludge because the space for their disposal is limited at present though they have been disposed of as such or after perfect combustion into ash. SOLUTION: Organic matter residues R are conveyed with a conveyor 31 and fed into the furnace of a rotary kiln 11. A combustion gas leaving a carbonization oven 1 is ignited with a stabilizing burner 23, and the formed high- temperature gas is blown into the oven. The oven is regulated so that the carbonization of organic residues R may proceed at a temperature of 400-600 deg.C. The carbonization product C can be found its use as a soil conditioner added to soil. The food garbage is exemplified when it is generated from a plant for manufacturing food (e.g. hamburgers). When food garbage derived from vegetables or animals rich in nutrients such as potassium, phosphorus, silicon, calcium and sodium are used, the obtained soil conditioner is desirable for culturing plants. Paper sludge can be regenerated into one resembling diatomaceous earth. |
