PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new polynucleotide having a high identity to a polynucleotide encoding a glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase polypeptide having a specific amino acid sequence and useful for producing the substance for protecting from the infection of Streptococcus microorganisms, etc. SOLUTION: This new isolated polynucleotide encoding a glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase gene polypeptide comprises a polynucleotide selected from a polynucleotide having at least a 70% identity to a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide comprising amino acids 1-495 of the formula, a polynucleotide which is complementary to the polynucleotide, and a polynucleotide comprising at least 15 sequential bases of the polynucleotides, and is useful for producing the polypeptide for protecting from the infection of Streptococcus microorganisms, etc. The polynucleotides are obtained by screening the chromosomal DNA library of Streptococcus pneumoniae with a probe. |
