PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject fiber having a sheath region composed of a polyamide and a core region composed of a polyolefin dividing the central void extending in the longitudinal direction and further coating, gloss and stain masking properties with a hollow multilobal filament. SOLUTION: This multilobal synthetic two-component fiber comprises a sheath region composed of a polyamide, etc., such as nylon 6, nylon 6/6, nylon 6/9, nylon 6/10, nylon 6T, nylon 6/12, nylon 11, nylon 12 or nylon 4, 6 and a core region, completely surrounded with the sheath region, composed of a fiber- forming polyolefin such as a linear polypropylene or polyethylene, having the same spread in the longitudinal direction as that of the sheath region and dividing the central void extending in the longitudinal direction. The fiber is produced by forming a fiber having the sheath and core polymer regions having the same spread in the longitudinal direction and further forming the central void, completely surrounded with the core region and extending in the longitudinal direction simultaneously with the extrusion of the sheath and core polymers. |
