PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a melanogenesis inhibitor excellent in melanogenesis inhibitory effect and high in safety and stability, and to obtain a skin whitening agent by including the above inhibitor. SOLUTION: This melanogenesis inhibitor is obtained by including extracts from at least one kind of sea alga selected from those belonging to the genus Ceratodictyon, Corallina, Dictyopteris, Dictyota, Dictyota spinulosa, Hizikia, Laurencia, Lomentaria, Myelophycus, Palmaria, Sargassum except Sargassum fulvellum, and Sphaerotrichia. The above extracts have high melanogenesis inhibitory effect, and preparations for external use for skin or cosmetics formulated with the extracts exhibit excellent skin whitening effect. |
