The present invention relates to catalysts which comprise element(s) of group IB, and element(s) and/or compound(s) of the transition metals, with or without support. The catalyst are activated with O2 and/or oxygen containing compound(s) or the mixture of oxygen and/or oxygen containing compound(s) with inert gas(es) to make them more active.
