PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a film desirable for the surface decoration of furniture, household electric appliances, construction materials, etc., by mixing a polyethylene having a density in a specified range with a rubber in a specified ratio, compounding the resulting mixture with a specified amount of titanium oxide and a specified amount of an iron oxide and molding the resulting mixture into film having a specified thickness and an opacity in a specified range. SOLUTION: 100 pts.wt. polyethylene having a density of 0.94-0.97 is compounded with at least 0.5-30 pts.wt., per 100 pts.wt. total of the polyethylene and the rubber, titanium oxide and 0.03-10 pts.wt. iron oxide, and the resulting mixture is molded into a film having a thickness of 0.05-0.2 mm and an opacity expressed by log (1/t) [(wherein T is I/I0 (wherein I0 is the incident light, and I is the transmitted light)] of 0.3-3. When the rubber used is an ethylene/butene-1 copolymer, the impact resistance can be improved without appreciable detriment to the rigidity. When it is an olefin rubber having 3 C or higher side chains, the impact tearing strength can be markedly improved. |
