Optical signal level adjustment system for optical fibre communications

The system has a multiple wavelength amplifier (1) and a demultiplexer (2) separating out the different optical wavelengths. Filtering (31-34) separates the wavelengths out, and each wavelength set has an amplifier (41-44) which individually adjusts the level of the wavelength signal. The signals are then recombined by a multiple coupler (5).
