<p>The present invention relates to a method for firing ceramic articles such as bricks. This method comprises forming channels (8, 9) in stacks of articles, arranging said stacks at given intervals on the bottom of a furnace so as to form a charge (7), and feeding a heat-carrier towards the charge (7) and into the channels (8, 9). This method is characterised in that a more uniform heating of voluminous charges can be achieved due to the rotation of the firing gases around the charge (7) as well as to the forced distribution of the heating flows (15, 16) which are fed in given quantities and directions into the channels (8, 9) of a stack. The forced distribution of the heating flows within a stack is obtained by ejecting the firing gases in the form of high-speed jets of heat-carrier (14), wherein said jets are fed at given locations in the vertical channels (8). If required, natural gas may also be introduced into these channels (8). The furnace for firing the ceramic articles comprises a bell (1) with a nozzle device (10) and gas burners (2), wherein said bell is mounted on a truck (3) with a gas-tight closure (4) and a channel for removing fumes (13). This bell-type furnace is characterised in that, in order to ensure rotation of the firing gases around the charge, the burners are mounted tangentially at certain levels so as to define a rotation circuit of the cyclone type having its axis at the centre of the furnace. The nozzle device is made in the shape of coaxial pipes (11, 12) which are capable of displacement within the channels (8) and relative to each other.</p> |
