<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the packet exchange of a large capacity where a delay in cut-through is small and restriction of a flow number possible for cut-through is small. SOLUTION: A virtual path connection VPC is set between edge nodes 1 at initial setting. An address cross reference table denoting cross reference between Internet protocol IP routing information and an Internet protocol/ asynchronous transfer mode IP/ATM address given from a network management equipment 5 is used to generate an IP/VPC cross-reference table. A gateway 3a assigns a virtual channel connection VCC to each packet received by a network 4a, a transmission edge node 1a references to input a packet to the VPC corresponding to a destination. A relay node 2 makes virtual path VP exchange. A reception edge node 1b transfers the packet to a corresponding gateway 3b for each destination. A controller 9 in the edge node 1 sends information of VCC to an input interface 6 and the packet satisfying the condition is exchanged by an ATM switch 8 not via the controller 9.</p> |
