PURPOSE:To suppress the formation of by-products such as 1-2C low-boiling gas and the occurrence of fly loss of a metal supported on a zeolite catalyst, by using a particular catalyst in reforming aliph. hydrocarbon and (or) alcyclic hydrocarbon to produce arom. hydrocarbon. CONSTITUTION:A metal belonging to the Group II b of the periodic table (e.g., Zn or Cd) is supported on a silica zeolite having a high silica content, i.e., an SiO2 to Al2O3 ratio of 8 or more (e.g., ZSM-5 or ZSM-11 zeolite). The zeolite is pretreated with a presulfiding agent (e.g., hydrogen sulfide or carbon disulfide) by heating under pressure to prepare a catalyst. Aliph. hydrocarbon and (or) alicyclic hydrocarbon are reformed in the presence of the catalyst to produce arom. hydrocarbon in a high yield. |
