PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly efficiently receive laser light emitted parallel to a substrate surface from a semiconductor laser even in the case of a monitor photodetector formed with its light receiving surface in a flat surface part of a semiconductor substrate. SOLUTION: Relating to the semiconductor laser device 1, a prism 5 is positioned facing to its inclined surface 50 with respect to an emitting surface of the semiconductor laser 4 on a submount 3. A reflecting area 51 subjected to surface treatment for the purpose of reflecting a part of the laser light L1 from the semiconductor laser 4 and a transmitting and refracting area 52 where the remaining light is transmitted and refracted and then led to the light receiving surface 6a of the monitor photodetector 6 covered with the prism 5 over the surface part 2b of the semiconductor substrate 2, are formed on the inclined surface 50, and based on a light receiving result of the light receiving surface 6a, a quantity of light to be emitted by the semiconductor laser 4 is feedback- controlled. |
