Dry electrostatic colour developer giving uniform charge under various conditions and after storage

Colour developer comprises a resin-coated carrier and a toner containing hydrophobic particulate titanium dioxide (TiO2) and, as charge control agent, a metal salt of an aromatic hydroxycarboxylic acid of formula (I). In (I), Q, Q' = the residue of an aromatic hydroxycarboxylic acid, optionally with an alkyl and/or aralkyl substituent; X = a counter-ion; and M = a metal. Also claimed are: (i) a method of producing the developer by mixing the toner and resin-coated carrier; and (ii) a toner containing (I) as charge control agent.
