PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas-phase polymerizer made proof against the deposition and growth of polymer by providing a gas-phase polymerizer for forming a powdery polymer with the aid of a solid polymerization catalyst with a gas sparger for diffusing and distributing a gas phase such as a circulated unreacted monomer and a slope-topped body situated at the gas phase inlet under it and distributing the stream along the inner wall of the polymerizer. SOLUTION: The slope-topped body 2A of the polymerizer 1 is an apparatus situated below a gas sparger 9 being a perforated plate and distributing the stream into the sparger 9 along the inner wall of a semispherical bottom 1b and takes a form of a closed hollow cone. The cone is an isosceles triangle in its vertical cross section of its top conical part 11 and has a vertex angleθof 90 deg., and also the bottom flat conical section 13 is an isosceles triangle in a vertical cross section, and its vertex angleθ2 is 150 deg.. The body 2A has a maximum diameter D2 in the range of 1.1D1 to 1.5D1 (wherein D1 is the diameter of the inlet pipe). The height H1 of the body is determined according to the equation: H1 =K(θ1 <2> .π/4)/(θ2 .π) (wherein K=0.8-1.2).
