PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stairway passage assisting device which is designed so that the user is allowed to ascend and descent stairs while gripping a sliding element, as the sliding element is raised and lowered along a guide groove by the rotation of a motor. SOLUTION: This device comprises: a guide groove 1 placed along stairs at an angle such that it becomes parallel to the inclination of the stairs; a threaded rod 2 driven by a reversible motor 3 to rotate in normal and reverse directions inside the guide groove 1; a sliding element 5 freely slidably fitted into the guide groove 1 and fitted around the threaded bar 2; a bracket 6 fixed integrally with the sliding element 5; a grip rod 8 supported against the bracket 6 in such a way as to be free to swing horizontally; a connecting rod 10 designed so that with a control part projecting from the grip rod 8, its locking part is fitted by a spring resilient force into a fitting hole 13 formed in the bracket 13 and is activated so that the grip rod 8 is secured to the bracket 6, and that the locking part is removed from the fitting hole 13 by drawing the control part close to the grip rod 8; and an on/off switch for the reversible motor 3, the pushbutton of the on/off switch projecting from the grip rod 8. |
