The process comprises equipping an individual investigating a contaminated site with a number of Geiger-Muller radioactivity counters (1, 2, 3, 4) positioned so that they receive radiation doses of difference strength due to the screening effect of the investigator's body. The different doses received simultaneously by the counters are compared to give the direction of the source from the investigator. Preferably, in addition to the detectors, which provide electrical signals in proportion to the radiation doses they receive and are positioned in two diametrically opposite pairs in a horizontal plane on a belt round the investigator's body, or on a harness round the head, the apparatus comprises a face screen, a computer (6) for processing the data, a headset (7), a dosimeter gun (8) and a magnetoscope (9).
|
