The wheel clamp has a U shaped member 12 and a locking bar 16 that passes through the centre 10 of the wheel 11. The U shaped member has a web portion 13 and two limbs 14, 15 with apertures adjacent to their free ends. The locking bar has a flange 17 at one end and a tapered nose portion 18 in which there is an aperture 19 at the other end. To apply the clamp to the wheel the locking bar is passed through the aperture in limb 14, between the spokes of the wheel and through the aperture in the limb 15. A padlock is then engaged with aperture 19 to secure the clamp in place. The clamp may be applied so that the padlock is disposed at the inner, vehicle, side of the wheel where it is less accessible. The clamp may have an extension 20 which covers the centre of the wheel preventing access to the bolts by which the wheel is secured to the vehicle hub.
