PRODUCTION OF ESTER PLASTICIZER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an ester plasticizer excellent in volume resistivity value. SOLUTION: The esterifying reaction of an organic acid or its anhydride with an alcohol is carried out in the presence of an organometallic compound catalyst and an aqueous solution of an alkali is then added to the resultant reactional product to conduct the neutralization of the unreacted acid and hydrolysis of the catalyst. Gaseous carbon dioxide is subsequently blown thereinto to convert the residual alkali into a carbonate. The excessive alcohol is recovered and the prepared crude ester is purified by combining microfiltration using a filter aid containing that having <=5μm particle size in an amount of >=20 wt.% based on the whole with adsorption treatment using an adsorbent.
