The container (2) has a projectile (3) and a shell case, a cylindrical outer wall (12) and an end cover (13). The cylindrical wall is made from a plastic material, e.g. of polypropylene or a polyethylene copolymer and is in the form of a lattice (14a, 14b) with rectangular apertures (15). The apertures (15) are of smaller dimensions that the propellant powder grains and have their longer sides lying parallel to the axis of the cylindrical container. The cylindrical lattice wall can be made from a flat panel of material, rolled into a cylinder and fixed by interlocking tabs and slots.
