FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to treatment and/or prophylaxis of pathological tissue calcification. Method involves administration of gamma-linolenic acid and/or its metabolites, and/or eicosapentaenoic acid and/or its precursors, stearidonic acid (20:4 n-3 and metabolites), docosahexaenic acid or docosapentaenoic acid (22:5 n-3) or their salts or in other pharmaceutical forms. Compounds can be used for prophylaxis and treatment of patients with nephrocalcinosis and/or at renal lithiasis.
