摘要 PURPOSE:To accelerate reaction rate and improve productivity of the title compound by reacting a mixture (BEM) of enantiomers of 1,3-butanediol with a specific microorganism in the presence of an alcohol or ketol. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism such as Candida parapsilosis IFO 1396 bacterial strain having ability capable of asymmetrically assimilating a mixture (BEM) of enantiomers of 1,3-butanediol is inoculated into a culture medium containing glucose, yeast extract, etc., and aerobically cultured at pH3.0-9.5 and 20-45 deg.C for 5-120hr to provide the cultured product (A). Then the ingredient A is blended with 0.1-10wt.% BEM and 0.05-1wt.% alcohol such as ethanol, ethylene glycol or 1-propanol or ketol such as dihydroxyacetone to afford the reaction product liquid (B). Then the ingredient B is reacted at pH3-10 and 10-60 deg.C for 1-120hr to provide the reaction product (C). Then the ingredient C is separated from the bacterial cell and then extracted and purified with column chromatography, etc., to provide the optically active 1,3-butanediol.
