Method and apparatus for manufacturing adhesive tapes

In a process for manufacturing adhesive strips a tubular sleeve filled with adhesive is moved under tension through a pipe-shaped apparatus(A) and slit along the length to form a flat strip(H). Most of the adhesive drains from the sleeve, the remainder adheres to the strip(H) which is then wound up. Process equipment comprises the pipe(A) with three or more openings, two slitting knives(F) and a strip wind-up arrangement(D). One opening receives the tubular sleeve, another forms an outlet for excess adhesive and the other incorporates a diverting roll(C).
