SESSION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND CONNECTION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IN ATM CONNECTIONLESS COMMUNICATION NETWORK

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a session management system that attains multi-to-multi multicast communication in the case of transferring connectionless datagram, via an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) network. SOLUTION: A session management section 13 and a connection management section 22 are provided to an interworking unit(IWU) 2 acting as an edge device and a connectionless-cross connect device (CL-XC) acting like a core device in a connectionless (CL) network. The session management section 13 discriminates whether or not user packet data are QoS (requested service quality) session. The connection management section collects connections between end terminals having no QoS application means by each destination edge device number and applies soft-state management to paths in twoway symmetry between the edge devices.
