PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractor for seat belts, which has a high energy absorbing load in compact configuration. SOLUTION: A bobbin 3 has a part 3b facing the inner peripheral part 50 of a hole formed in a side plate 1b of a retractor base 1, and is capable of being moved radially between the parts facing the retractor base 1 when a specified force is applied. The inner peripheral part 50 of the hole of the retractor base 1 and the outer peripheral part 5b of a locking base 5 are positioned so that they are not overlapped with each other in thrust direction, the inner peripheral part 50 of the hole of the retractor base 1 has a grinding means, and the bobbin 3 is made of material which is likely to be ground by the grinding means. |
