PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pumped storage power generation facility formed, so that it can cope with a simple system equipment accident and exciting converter trouble. SOLUTION: This equipment comprises an overcurrent detection circuit 38, system abnormality detection circuit 40, and an inverter control circuit 8. The inverter control circuit 8 discriminates generation of system abnormality based on a detection signal of these two circuits or more. When the system abnormality occurs, the inverter control circuit actuates DC link capacitor short circuit and/or inverter output short circuit provided across an output terminal of an inverter 6a, trips AC exciting synchronous motor when the abnormality is continued for a predetermined period of time, and turns to normal operation of the AC exciting synchronous motor when DC voltage and system voltage is reset.
