PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform the availability of a channel in a service area of a radio base station to a possessor of a personal handy phone system. SOLUTION: A radio base station 1 is provided with a notification circuit 2 that uses an idle bit of a BCCH (a function channel between a radio base station and a personal handy phone system, a downward unidirectional notification channel to inform control information from a radio base station to a personal handy phone system) for a notice bit denoting the availability of a channel, and transmits the BCCH including the notice bit to all personal handy phone systems in a radio base station area. The personal handy phone system 6 receives the BCCH from the radio base station and uses a notice bit extraction circuit 3 to extract the notice bit from the received BCCH. A display circuit 5 displays the channel availability based on the value of the extracted notice bit. In the case that a plurality of radio base stations are installed in the same area, a BCCH retrieval circuit 4 extracts the notice bit from each radio base station and the channel availability is displayed on the display device based on the value of the notice bit.
