The system comprises a motor, transmission, casing and metal band enabling the screwing or unscrewing of a nut, collar etc. assembly (2) of rods or pipes (1). The band (3) has an opening and is clamped either by spring action or by a rotating spindle. The motor (14) activates a transmission assembly (10,12) at the end of which is a pinion (6). This pinion drives a series of toothed wheels inside a casing (5) the last wheel of which (8) has teeth shaped to activate the band teeth (3.3). The band rotates freely relative to the casing by a sliding rail receiving a projection from the conversion casing.
