Power switch with overload protection

The switch (1) is connected between a pair of supply voltage terminals (VDD,VSS) and is switched in response to a supplied control signal (A), received by a delay element (5), providing a delayed cut-out signal (B) for the power switch. The delay time is dependent on the voltage across the power switch (VS), the supply voltage (VDD) and a temperature signal (VT), provided by the difference between a reference value and the temperature provided by a temperature sensor which is thermically coupled to the power switch.
