ALKALI-SOLUBLE RESINS AND IMAGE-FORMING MATERIAL PREPARED BY USING THE SAME

An alkali-soluble resin, which is a copolymer resin comprising a (meth)acrylic acid component (A) and an alicyclic epoxidized polymerizable unsaturated monomer component (B) as indispensable monomer components, and wherein the amount of the component (A) copolymerized is 20 to 45 % by mole based on all the monomer components while the amount of the component (B) copolymerized is 80 to 200 % by mole based on the component (A), and the weight average molecular weight is more than 1000; another alkali-soluble resin, which is a copolymer resin comprising the above components (A) and (B) and an aliphatic polycyclic compound as an additional monomer component (C) in an amount of not less than 5 % by mole based on all the monomer components; an image-forming material prepared by using the alkali-soluble resins; and an image element formed from the image-forming material. The above alkali-soluble resins have microfabricability and heat resistance required of image-forming materials used in protective film materials of electronic devices, insulating film materials, ink resins of LCD color filters and the like. The image-forming material is of one-pack type having excellent storage stability. The image element formed from the image-forming material has excellent heat resistance.
