Compounds of formula (I) wherein R 1 is hydrogen, hydroxy or alkoxy; each of R 2 , R 3 , R 4 and R 5 , which are the same or different, is hydrogen or alkyl; and n is 0, 1 or 2; and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof; act as inhibitors of LDL-peroxidation and can therefore be used to treat or prevent atherosclerosis, hypercholesterolemia or hyperlipidemia. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions containing compounds of formula (I) and a process for making such compounds. |
