PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display an image having the gradation corresponding to a video signal by controlling writing operations of frame memories with an input vertical synchronizing signal as a reference, and controlling reading operations of the frame memories with a display vertical synchronizing signal as a reference. SOLUTION: A frame memory writing control part 7 controls respective writing operations of a first frame memory 4 and a second frame memory 5 with an input vertical synchronizing signal as a reference. On the other hand, a frame memory reading control part 8 controls respective reading operations of the first frame memory 4 and the second frame memory 5 with a display vertical synchronizing signal as a reference. As a result, an image having the gradation corresponding to a video signal is displayed on a PDP 16 on the basis of data read out by the first frame memory 4 and the second frame memory 5. Therefore, a plasma display is driven by a vertical synchronizing frequency different from a frequency of the input vertical synchronizing signal of the video signal, and the image having the gradation corresponding to the video signal is displayed. |
