PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent influences of changes in physical properties and chemical composition of ink and obtain best print image quality, by detecting an ink type before printing and adapting ink to a printer and a receiving medium. SOLUTION: The ink-jet print apparatus forms images with the use of an ink containing a labelling material of a predetermined concentration. The apparatus has a print head 16, an ink transfer system (a microcontroller 24, an ink pressure adjuster 26, an ink container 28, an ink-coupling tube 29, an ink channel assembly 30, etc.) constituted to feed ink to the print head 16, and a sensor which is sensitive to the labelling material in the ink and can generate a signal characterizing the concentration of the labelling material in the ink. At the time of filling the ink, the presence of the labelling material in the ink is detected, so that the ink not containing the labelling material is rejected. |
