The gas container comprises two circular dished members (1,2), with the explosive (11) centred in the lower surface (6) of the bowl (2), which is closed by the lid (1). The lid is pierced by tubes, closed by diaphragms (8). The explosive charge (17) is fired by the electric detonator (16). Explosive gases rupture the diaphragms (25) and escape through holes (26) to mingle with the compressed inert gas. The expanding mixture of gases rises through the tubes (9), rupturing the diaphragms (8), enters the space under the lid (28), and escapes through a filtering ring and the holes (30) to inflate the air bag.
