PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an electrolyte from oozing out from a battery by mainly using polybutylene terephthalate as a gasket for sealing a gap between a metallic battery can and a metallic terminal cap. SOLUTION: A gasket 7 is used to seal a gap between a metallic battery can 1 and a metallic terminal cap 13, and can be applied to any of coin, square and cylindrical batteries. In this case, polybutylene terephthalate(PBT) is preferable as a material used for the gasket 7. Also, polyester may be used for the gasket 7. In addition, the gasket 7 used for a sealing part is required to have a suitable level of elasticity and shock resistance even at high temperature. The polybutylene terephthalate used for the gasket 7 has thermal deformation temperature between 140 and 200 deg.C under a load of 4.6 kgf/cm<2> according to the measurement method as per ASTM-D648, and the Rockwell hardness defined by ASTM-D785 is preferably between 60 and 110 on the M-scale. |
